What to Expect

A driven shooting day in Wales should be remembered for far more than the number of birds in the bag. At Sweet Lamb, every day is built around the complete sporting experience, combining challenging pheasant and partridge, spectacular Cambrian Mountain scenery, relaxed hospitality and, perhaps most importantly, the company of those with whom the day is shared.

No two days at Sweet Lamb are quite the same. Weather, wind and the natural movement of the birds all play their part, and drives are selected to make the best of the conditions on the day. From the first gathering in the morning to the final drive of the afternoon, the pace is deliberately unhurried, allowing time to enjoy the countryside, watch the dogs work and appreciate the people behind the line who make a shooting day possible.

The shooting itself is designed to challenge rather than simply overwhelm. Pheasant and partridge are presented using the natural contours of the valleys and hills, with height, pace and variation producing birds that demand concentration and reward good judgement. Some will be taken cleanly, while others will inevitably leave the line discussing how on earth they escaped.

That, of course, is all part of a good day. The aim at Sweet Lamb is not simply to provide a day's shooting, but to provide a day worth remembering.
